Local legend has it that Arcos de la Frontera was founded around the time of the great biblical flood and was built originally by Noah's grandson. Even disregarding the legend Arcos is an historical gem of a town, fascinating at every turn. Pictured right, a carved image dating to Roman times.

Whenever you come to Arcos you'll find there is some event or other going on. In Winter it's carnival time. In Spring, the May Crosses (pictured right). Summer sees many flamenco shows, and in Autumn the town fair takes centre stage.
