| Arcos de la Frontera seen from the 'Barrio Bajo' below. St. Peter's church is in the distance to the right and ruins of the old city wall are centre left. The Moors built the wall during their occupation of Arcos de la Frontera between 711 and 1264. Still visible today, this section of wall is about all that is left. Notice how the road widens out below what used to be the only entrance into town from this end. You can imagine how difficult it must have been for unwanted visitors to sneak in! |
