One of the oldest surviving images of Arcos de la Frontera, this photo was taken in 1867 on the day the Stone Bridge over the Guadalete river was inaugurated. Just look how many of the townspeople turned out that day to celebrate the event. You can also see the castle and the three principal churches up on the cliff. By this time the town had obviously spread itself out, no longer being confined to the clifftop. After being destroyed by a flood in 1917 the Stone Bridge was replaced by the Iron Bridge. This photo was taken by R. Hernández.

The other photographs were taken by Víctor Marín in the 1940s and 1950s.
